Tongits on Pinoytek.net!

Monday, March 24th, 2008

I asked Lavern of Pinoytek.net if he would like to do a short review of Tongits. He has this to say about the game:

When i received notice from Rico about Tong-its, i started to play it many times - many many times. I can’t remember the last time i played Tong-its, but when Rico’s own version came out, i feel i am bringing back the memories again. It’s really addicting!

My final say, Rico’s version of Filipino’s favorite game Tong-its is something that Filipinos should be proud of.

Thanks Lavern for the nice review! You can read the entire article here.

Tongits was recently featured on Tambayan.ph. Ryman has this to say about the game:

I would have posted this earlier today, but I got hooked playing the game for three hours. And I’m already loosing against both the computer, with current wins 30, 25, 23 (I have the 23 wins). I’m still playing (alt+tabbing) as I’m writing this article.

Thanks Ryman for the feature!

Tongits is the first to be featured on AdobeAirGames.com, a brand new blog focusing on games built on Adobe® AIR™. I’m sure more games will be coming out soon now that the official 1.0 of AIR has been released.

Tongits on Casual Gamer Chick!

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Jennifer the Casual Gamer Chick wrote a nice review of Tongits plus a brief and clear overview of the rules. To be featured in such a high profile blog that caters to casual gamers is great news for my little game which badly needs some exposure. I hope more people will be encouraged to try out Tongits, the most addictive card game of all!

Thanks to Dexter of Techathand.net for writing the article.

Tongits On Technogra.ph!

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

It feels good to know that Tongits is starting to get noticed in the blogosphere. Technogra.ph has this to say about the game:

An online tongits game (located at tongits.net), created by local developer Rico Zuniga, runs on Adobe AIR. Meaning that after it’s downloaded, it can be played despite the lack of internet connectivity. While we at Technograph are impressed by the game’s workable interface, AI, and graphics, we can’t help but wonder who’ll be willing to shell out $15 for a piece of Filipino gaming.

By “online tongits game”, the author probably meant Tongits found online, but not playable online. Although I am trying to work on the network play feature to be just that - be playable online. And the $15 is reserved for the really hard core and die hard Tongits fan, I just hope they really do exist.

Tongits On YugaTech!

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

I would like to thank Abe Olandres for mentioning Tongits in his uberblog YugaTech! He also posted some of his thoughts and impressions on the game.

I used to be a gambling addict when I was a kid. I learned playing Pusoy when I was 7. Played professional mah jhong at 12. So when indie Pinoy game developer Rico Zuniga sent me a tip about this local game he developed, I spent over 3 hours playing tong-its.

I really have to say that beyond the intuitive drag-and-drop interface, I loved playing with the AI (artificial intelligence). It was very challenging (though after several dozen rounds, I kinda got to know how the two other players cook their strategy that I’ve been able to predict when they will draw). But you guys have to try this. Props to Rico for a job well done.

Thanks Abe!
